Treasures of Oz driving directions

Here’s a route that you can follow through all the 2010 Treasures of Oz sites. You’ll end up at Forest Beach Migratory Preserve where on Saturday July 24th from 1 PM to 5 PM you’ll find food, music, a silent auction, and a raffle. We’re including the latitude and longitude coordinates of each site for use with GPS navigation systems.

To Mequon Nature Preserve:

Take Wauwatosa Road to County Line Road.  Turn to the west.  Drive 3/10 mile to the Pieper Power Education Center. Parking is on the north side of the road.

Mequon Nature Preserve to Highland Woods

Leave the preserve and go left/east on County Line Road to Wauwatosa Road.  Turn left/ north, and continue on Wauwatosa Road 4 miles to Highland Road.  Turn right/east, on Highland and continue 1 mile  to Green Bay Road.  Turn right/south on Green Bay Road.  Parking is on the right/ west, side.

Highland Woods to Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve

Leave Highland Woods and turn left/north, on Green Bay Road 2 miles to Pioneer Road/ Hwy C.    Turn right/east and go east on Pioneer Road 3 miles  to the lake.   Pioneer Road/ Hwy. C turns north and becomes Lake Shore Road for a time.  Continue north on Hwy. C an additional 4 1/2 miles.  You will see signs on your right for the turn to Lion's Den.  Ulao Parkway crosses Hwy. C at that point and becomes High Bluff.  Turn right/east just after the sign and continue east on High Bluff into the preserve.

Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve to Bratt Woods

Leave Lion's Den on High Bluff going west to Hwy. C.   Go left on Hwy. C to Hwy. Q/Ulao Road.  Turn right/west on Hwy Q/Ulao Road (becomes State Hwy. 60) and continue west across I-43 and into the Village of Grafton.

There are two entrances to Bratt Woods.  For the east entrance, continue on Hwy. Q/60 past Grafton High School and turn right/northeast on to Hwy. V.  Continue northeast on Hwy. V  about one mile to  East River Road.  Turn left on East River Road and continue north 1/2 mile to East Cedar Creek Road.  Turn left and go west 1/2 mile to the cul-de-sac.  Park in the cul-de-sac.

For the west entrance, Continue on Hwy. Q/60 to Hwy. O.  The Harris Bank will be on your right.  Turn right/north on Hwy. O/ 12th Avenue/Green Bay Road and continue north about one mile.  You will see the Grafton pool on your left/west.  Park in the swimming pool/ municipal lot.  At the north end of the pool parking lot and play area, you will see the Interurban Trail.  Go to the trail and take it east, across Hwy. O/Green Bay Road and on to the wooden bridge.  You will see the entrance to Bratt Woods once you are over the bridge several yards further on your left/north.

Bratt Woods to Cedarburg Bog

From the East Entrance to Bratt Woods, return to Hwy Q/60 and proceed on Q/60 west about 3/10 mile to Hwy. O/12th Avenue/Green Bay Road. Harris Bank will on your right. Turn right/ north on to Hwy O/ 12th/ Green Bay Road and continue north about 11 miles to Hwy 33.

From the West Entrance to Bratt Woods, continue north on Hwy O/ Green Bay Road 10 miles to Hwy. 33 in Saukville.

Turn left on Hwy 33 and proceed west about 10 miles. You will cross Hwy. I, then Lakeland Road. The Cedarburg Bog trailhead is 1/10 mile west of Lakeland Road on your left (on the south side of Hwy. 33)

There is some parking at the trail head. Road parking will be on the south side of Hwy. 33 only.

Cedarburg Bog to Riveredge Nature Center

Leave Cedarburg Bog and turn left/west, on Hwy. 33.  Continue west on 33 to Hwy. Y. Go north on Hwy Y/ Hawthorne Rd. for about 1 and 2/10 miles.  The Riveredge Education and Visitor Center and parking will be on your right.

Riveredge Nature Center to Huiras Lake

Leave Riveredge and turn right east, on Hawthorne Road/ Hwy. Y.  Hwy Y curves to the left BUT CONTINUE STRAIGHT on Hawthorne Road  to Hwy. I.  Turn left/north and proceed north on I.  Hwy. I  does a short jog, right/east on Hwy. A and then continues left/north, just across the river.  Continue north on Hwy I for a little over 6 miles to Jay Road.   Turn left/ west on Jay.  Clover Valley Road will be the first road on the left.  Turn left/south on Clover Valley and go about 1/2 miles to the Huiras Lake trail head.  Parking will be on the west shoulder only.

Huiras Lake to Harrington Beach State Park

Leave Huiras Lake and drive south on Clover Valley Road to Hwy I.  Turn left/ north on Hwy. I and go to Jay Road.  Turn right/east and go east on Jay Road 8 miles to Hwy, LL. (This is just before I-43) Turn right/south, on LL and go 2 and 1/10 miles to Hwy. D.  Turn left/east, on D and stay on D about 1 mile to the park entrance on your right/south.

Harrington Beach State Park Lat/Lon: N 43deg 29.96058 min W 87 deg 48.71196 min

Harrington Beach State Park to Forest Beach Migratory Preserve

Leave Harrington Beach and turn left/west on Hwy. D.  Take Hwy D west to Hwy. LL.  Turn left/south, on LL and continue 3 miles to Hwy. P. Turn left /east  on P to the Migratory Preserve.  Hwy. P crosses over I-43 and eventually curves left and will bring you right up to the Forest Beach club house.  There is parking on both the left and right sides.
